I have been considering that.

After weighing it all afternoon, I believe I am better put to use at the Ministry. There are strong protections on the Headmaster's office. I believe I could break them given time, but time will be in short supply. The Ministry, on the other hand, I am much more certain I can effect.

I expect to spend the night making relevant notes.

Has Harry spoken with you about his possible plans? Or Sirius? You may wish to take those into account.

I can see how that would be the case, yes. I'm assuming you're thinking about the modified Fidelius? If so, you'll need to coordinate with Davidson. He's been working on a plan to provide support, and although this is premature, he would be ready and able to help.

And I would suggest bringing Bill in on it as well.

And Albus, they really will need to actually communicate with you.

If you're going the modified Fidelius route, you will need to bring Fu Lee along in case there's blasting that needs to be done. Colin will be able to provide some assistance with Apparation, and can serve as a contact point -- he has Frank's journal on him, and is quick on his feet.

I know Hagrid places a great deal of faith in those giant spiders, but I do not.

If we're able to carve out a safe zone in the Forest, we can start moving people into position from Tilda's as soon as dawn tomorrow. But as we've discussed, I would rather not have a two-front battle -- you need to be absolutely certain about the centaurs, or Hagrid's ability to hold them at bay.

Yeah. We're not there yet, they're still at "we'll kill anyone who trespasses", but I'm hoping I can out-stubborn them.

Don't count on it, though. Hagrid's confident he'll be able to hold a safe corridor with the Acromantulas, but I think he's being far too optimistic. It's better to plan for not having the route than to plan assuming that we will and not be able to.

I'd rather hammer out a tentative truce with the centaurs than trust the spiders. It's truce or nothing, at this point. If you get nowhere with them before midnight, leave off and get some sleep.

Not having access to the Forest won't sink us, but it will hamper our ability to position ourselves; given how wide open the grounds are, any cover is a blessing.

Given the tactical advantages it could give us, I'm going to keep going until I get a definite yes or they tell me to fuck on off. I was working nights this week, I'm not going to be sleepy for a while yet.

I made sure to grab my satchel before I left, it's got enough wake-up potions to keep me going for a full two days straight if I have to. I won't be useless for the actual assault, I promise.

Dree wrote me a little while ago and said -- pretty coded, but we're good at reading each other -- that Higgs is a bit suspicious of my conveniently timed 'illness', but she and Em put him off. And she said to give 'em hell.

It's not going well, but I'm not giving up entirely. I've argued one or two of them around, but I haven't got any real buy-in from the rest. We've taken a break now.

Something I thought of while Hagrid and I went for a bit of a walk to clear our heads a bit: it's awfully dark out here, even with the night-vision charms, and I can just hear the werewolves on the grounds and the occasional people shouting enough to figure there's going to be an awful lot of them. It's going to be awful chaos tomorrow night. We should figure some way to identify people who are fighting on our sides, especially people the kids inside won't recognise, and the Order members in the castle can put out word to not hex the people wearing purple robes or whatever.

I'll try getting eyes on the grounds before we leave tonight to see if I can give you a tactical report.

I think we can get a few people through the Forest with Hagrid's help and the Acromantulas, but we can't rely on bringing more than a few people through. The Centaurs aren't budging.

I doubt Narcissa's inclined to serve us any caviar while we're here, although she's keeping her comments to herself and mostly making herself scarce. She did look at us when we first arrived as if we're great unwashed ruffians who are about to make off with the silver.

A few of us glared back at her, but the rest of us ignored her.

I get the feeling she's not used to being ignored.

We're making plans and waiting for the right opportunity to retrieve the others' wands. We can't do it too soon before they're needed as MLE have been going in and out of their storage, what, and the strongboxes in which the wands are kept have protections which will alert the Enforcers if they've been opened or emptied. So if we can get some notice before the assault is likely to begin, that would be most helpful. I say, that is if we're not the ones signalling you, that is.

Our first priority will be to subdue the Death Eaters here, followed by the Enforcers, after which we will get to the Common Rooms, release the hostages there and get them their wands back.

We can also provide a diversion if it would be useful to you, to distract our captors at the moment when you begin your siege. Are you going to use the colocation box? We might be able to stage something that lures several of them to you for an ambush.

We've heard rumours that Bellatrix is nearby but she hasn't come inside, yet. One expects that might change as the deadline approaches, however.

The flight team is finishing preparations. Those that haven't practiced with Fu's devices are doing so now. I apologize again, Siz, but if they are too well entrenched on the top of the tower we're going to have to sweep the exposed area with his 'ensendiary' devices before landing, it'll be faster than trying to duel them.

Is there any way to ask if Donnelly's moved things around in the interior, without giving too much away?

Also, Alice - if the Baron's around, and he might be, do you have instructions for him or the other ghosts? Might get a chance at it.

Find places to hide them, and lead them there as safely as possible.

They might also monitor our Hogsmeade and secret room exit points to see if evacuation is at all possible -- we'll be on the move, it'll be otherwise difficult and dangerous to determine whether they'll bring reinforcement to prevent retreat.

And I think once we get the wards and the protections set, we should be able to monitor the journals some, and pass word along. It's the first bit that's trickiest.

George and me designed some armbands, in case you think they could be useful. So our teams don't down each other with friendly fire. They're charmed to be invisible to anyone with a Dark Mark UNLESS they're also Order members. But to everyone else--well, Ron asked for sparkles. They're orange, with a phoenix flying around the circle and they have a low grade patterned pulsing glimmer. I've whipped up about fifty of them. The juniors can send word out on the Galleon to trust anyone wearing them. I don't think the Enforcers can quickly duplicate the charm work that gives them the shimmer during the middle of a battle. They'll also have a lumos charm built into them that can be set to be visible only to the wearer, enough to light your footsteps in the dark, but the enemy won't see that.

Dunno, you may think it's not a good idea, since the Enforcers will be able to see them, and it might make our people too much of a target. I can alter the design if you think of a way they could be improved. But anywhiz, this way the kids'll know who to trust. It'd be good if we could get three to Ron and Hydra and Justin so they could don them before things get hot, just so they don't get coshed from behind by someone wielding a pumpkin juice cup. But don't know if that'll be possible.
