ORDER ONLY
Mar. 5th, 2012 02:00 pmWell, we've had quite an interesting day.
Mellisandra Ollivander came up to me after breakfast smiling -- smiling, mind you, letting me know that she'd finally sorted out some fiddly binding process that she'd been struggling with for weeks. She looked positively radiant.
She's been working herself to the bone, especially since the latest smuggling shipment provided some cores she could work with -- she has so few of them that she's really had to be careful; I remember her crying when one of the unicorn hairs melted, and she's singed her eyebrows off twice, the dear -- and I've hardly seen her outside of the occasional meal in what seems like weeks. She's had Patricia working with her, though, so I've had dribs and drabs of news, but this is a definite step forward.
Mellisandra says that she didn't want to say anything until she was able to replicate the process successfully, and so she's got two wands that appear to be in working order -- we're planning on having some of our more experienced adults give them a spin tonight, with all the proper precautions of course, but wands are quite tricky under the best circumstances if the person holding them isn't meant to, so we might need a wider sample of volunteers who actually need a wand. Walden, we were thinking you could help us in that arena -- do you know of people at Sherwood who need wands, and would be experienced enough to not get hurt if they turn out to be unstable? We'd be there just in case, of course, but if things go well, this is very promising indeed.
Also, Bill, any word on the papers?

Date: 2012-03-06 02:35 am (UTC)She's been telling me about how back in the day, people used to bring in their own cores, to have wands custom made, and they could be all sorts of things. We were talking about how it might actually help if the Sherwood people were to do the same -- find something on their own that would be suitable. She thinks that might increase the chances that she'd make a wand that would fit them.

Date: 2012-03-06 02:49 am (UTC)Bill's torn away from his new job duties long enough to check in with his forgers, and we have packets together on about half the children. We can go for the ones in Leeds, Brighton and Scarborough anytime. There are two in London, I note, and their documents are ready, too.

Date: 2012-03-06 03:12 am (UTC)We'll start first thing tomorrow. Frank and Stephen can hit up Leeds.
Tonks, love, you and I can take on Scarborough. When would be best? It'll hold til the weekend.
And perhaps Remus and Sirius could handle the ones in London?
And here's to Bill and his team.
