Cedric, love, I’m arriving at Dover with Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy within the hour. Thank you for working to make arrangements in Calais. The Vow has been successfully administered, and they've had the morning to get their things in order, so I'm not anticipating any problems on our end of things.

Private Message to Remus and Sirius

Narcissa informed me that the house and one-third of the family fortune would be going to Draco -- which was her response to my requests for a ‘donation’ as a sign of ‘good will' to smooth the path to their exile. Good riddance, I say. I passed along the letters for them both, and she gave me the ones she wanted to distribute as well. They both have their journals regardless.

I know this decision will make many unhappy, but I am just so very glad to have them out of the country, and with Padma Patil soon to be under our watch, today feels like a good day.

I saw that Draco wrote Severus this morning. Merlin, my heart goes out to him. I can understand his reasons for not seeing them off -- I just hope he'll find his peace with all of it.

I hope that doesn't turn out to be something Draco regrets. He's collecting enough of those to last a lifetime. But for now, he's right not to see them. He's in no shape for it and it might have unravelled everything we'd just settled. You're right that the sooner Lucius is off British soil, the better.

And yes, we're liable to be in some hot water over the level of clemency we're extending to one of Voldemort's top men. It's the best thing for Draco, in the long run, though - and right now I can't stand the thought of breaking his heart any worse.

When they start calling for our heads over it, Allie, just remember that we let Lucius go for Draco, not for himself.

At least he'll be able to visit in France.
