I know all of you are exhausted, and heart-weary. Please be good to one another in the coming days. Sleep if you can. Don't forget to eat. We'll see what we can do to have a small memorial of sorts over the weekend, barring any new chaos that may come our way.
There are still a significant number of people out there who will try their best to interfere with what we have planned, and I've no doubt they will fight us every step of the way. Be prepared to mobilize should we need it -- the ongoing threat our remaining enemies pose to us is a top priority.
Remus and I have been talking, and for the time being, Hogwarts seems the most obvious place to use as a seat for our transitional government. It is defendable, and yet still accessible for those who will need to come to treat with us. We will continue our attempts to move the Board to sack Dolohov, and make the castle as secure as possible. Are there any objections? Might we move the colocation box to a more convenient location while we're at it? I've no objections to the students and staff who are currently here staying as long as they chose, and we can anticipate moving to a more permanent location once things settle, optimistically, well before the term would begin.
Thank you all of you who've been helping to track down the last of the missing students, and for everyone who has been helping to escort parents.
Some specifics we identified for tomorrow (or, rather, later today -- it is late) follow below, and I'm sure we're missing things -- feel free to add to our ever-growing list.

Date: 2015-05-19 06:04 am (UTC)I am willing to offer Ollivander amnesty in exchange for his full and immediate cooperation. He cannot expect immediate compensation, mind, but you can certainly have him come up with an itemised receipt.
It would be preferable if Melli had access to materials, etc. as well.
Keep moving forward aggressively with screening members to fill our numbers (a hearty congratulations to Ron, Hydra, Justin, and Draco, I am so very pleased), and keep a close eye on Buckingham and Westminster.

Date: 2015-05-19 06:22 am (UTC)Severus would no doubt say something wonderfully appropriate right about now about how we all have our own ways of mourning, and what to do to move forward in a way that honours what they were trying to accomplish.
You will make a fine Auror.

Date: 2015-05-19 03:43 pm (UTC)With the camps liberated, arming those Muggleborn old enough to have even a few years of schooling would be preferable, and their numbers are beyond what we could supply with only Melli's work. The fifty taken from the Ministry helps, of course, but still.
Thoughts?
How much would it take to capture the shop by force? Or attempt a second break-in? See if Melli could get over the blood protections?
It's only vital to them because we need it.

Date: 2015-05-19 03:46 pm (UTC)Could we get wands from France? We've got all the dragon heartstring we need just now.

Date: 2015-05-19 04:00 pm (UTC)Once we sort out funding, that can be prioritised.
And we can pass along the heartstring to Melli, which will pay dividends in the coming weeks.
Merlin willing, it'll be sorted sooner rather than later.

Date: 2015-05-19 06:05 am (UTC)Linus Moon may also be willing to help. In addition, we've taken prisoner a few individuals from Mysteries who might be able to shed some light on things. Siz, dear, I'm also assuming you'll have more open access to the Guild.
We currently have a possible key to their dismantling now that Davidson has Prince William in custody, I need you to get together and see what sort of movement we can have in that second layer of warding. Please keep us informed if you need to bring in other specialists.

Date: 2015-05-19 12:37 pm (UTC)Evelyn, I did a clean copy of our summary working notes last night, they're on the desk in my rooms. Possibly under a cat. If you and Sarah could share them with Septima and explain things as she has questions, that'd be a help to get her ready for the meeting.
Linus is very willing to help with the arithmancy side. (Also, I have had a long talk with him about how to behave. If he's an idiot at any of you, please tell me so I can sort it out.)
Was Chelsea Burris at Mysteries? She's high on my list for people to talk to if the opportunity presents. Also anyone who did anything with Stornoway.
I do need to talk to Georg and others. I'll set something up for Thursday. But yes, we have rather more access to resources than we used to, he's made that clear already.

She was my partner in Arithmancy, and would be a quick study.

Date: 2015-05-19 04:28 pm (UTC)PSiz,I know tomorrow will be rather awful.
Is there anything I can do? Would you
Would you want company there?
Or just massive amounts of marzipan when you get back?
Re: Private Message to Professor Sinistra
Date: 2015-05-19 04:48 pm (UTC)Tomorrow. Mum says my sister's wild with grief, Andie's mum. And that she's saying some awful things. There's no reason you need to hear that, or anyone else who doesn't have to be there.
Marzipan and looking at stars with you to come home to, though, that would be a great help to have in my head to look forward to.
Thursday. I plan to ask Georg to come here, once we've done the committee meeting.
I don't want to push you if you aren't sure now, because so much has changed. Is changing. Will be changing.
But if you want, still, we could do the formal parchment work for the apprenticeship and make it properly formal.
Re: Private Message to Professor Sinistra
Date: 2015-05-19 05:06 pm (UTC)And if she decided to get angry at me instead of you, or the both of us, well, that might be a little easier for everyone all round, and I wouldn't be bothered in the least. They're just words. Words coming from a place of sadness. I've been through far worse.
Re: Private Message to Professor Sinistra
Date: 2015-05-19 05:07 pm (UTC)Truly?
With the Guild and everything?
You're sure? I haven't even taken my NEWTs yet, after all.
But it'd be an absolute honour. Yes, please.
Re: Private Message to Professor Sinistra
Date: 2015-05-19 05:17 pm (UTC)The parchment work, yes. It's unconventional, but we're doing a lot of unconventional things all over the place. I think Georg will be glad to let me see how it works. You've done so much excellent work already.
It'd also make some things easier. As an apprentice, you could request things at the Guild yourself, for example, and not have to wait for me.

Date: 2015-05-19 04:38 pm (UTC)Some deaths, people who tried to get away and got caught. Sometimes the family they were with, sometimes the Watch. We're taking down whatever information we can, so we can tell the families, but it's real jumbled right now.
Some who are still there, but not really free to leave. I've got a list of what we know, and why we think they want to leave. I'll bring it this afternoon.
And then about three parts people who got out.
Some of them are real broken. Can't make decisions for themselves, without orders. Real scared anytime anyone with a wand comes near them. We're trying to put them in small groups in the farms we've Fideliused, where there's useful stuff they can do, but not all of them can manage a farm.
Some of them desperately want wands and to go fight eveyone who made their lives hell for years. Can't blame them, but they're really not in shape for it.
And some of them, we think they're mostly as okay as someone could be, but the people at Aldrich with experience think that that may not hold for about half of them. So we're going real gently.

Date: 2015-05-19 04:55 pm (UTC)Might we arrange for a counterpart? Local Committees of Welfare and Safety or somesuch? Charlie, I know you have thoughts on this.
And as for the rest, yes. That will take some time. I'm so grateful that they can be with people who know what it's been like, and who've been free for long enough to give some guidance.
The camps will likewise be difficult -- if we are to succeed here, we must work with them rather than tell them what to do and how to do it, but it will be a rough transition for many, I'm afraid.

Date: 2015-05-19 05:21 pm (UTC)The Watch is fits and starts. We'll report things as we hear them.

Date: 2015-05-19 11:53 am (UTC)Can muggles work the floo? If they can, it would send a very clear message to have a small team covering floo calls including several muggles plus a 'creature' or two.
We really do need to decide what we're going to call the side of Magical Creatures that deals with the other races rather than the actual creatures.
Re: Private Message to Alice
Date: 2015-05-19 03:55 pm (UTC)Once the floo is up and running, we'll see what we can set up. I've a few people in mind who might be willing.
Council has bad associations, more's the pity.
Embassy for Non-Human Persons, perhaps? Sets a tone of negotiation, good-will, collaboration, communication... and an embassy suggests a certain degree of distance and independence that might be preferable for them.
I am not sure how they'd feel about the non-human distinction, though. We may have to put it to them to see what they think of it. Those with lycanthropy might be in a bit of a grey area depending on personal preference.
I'll have to think on it further. And you do as well, Cedric.

Date: 2015-05-19 04:41 pm (UTC)Jeremy and Pansy, I can give you a letter to take to Rose Stuben, who runs the barter network centered at Ottery St. Catchpole (it's actually quite widespread), and I know she's in contact with other barter networks throughout the old Protectorate. She'll be able to give you a number of contacts. I can't help but think they'll be eager to work with us rather than Protectorate people, if only because WE won't be forbidding all but purebloods from receiving goods.
Private message to Alice and Remus
Date: 2015-05-19 04:45 pm (UTC)Kingsley always used to say that after we overthrew the Protectorate we could call the land 'Albion.'
Well, it's probably not the most pressing question at the moment. But it might be helpful to chose something so we can be consistent in all statements and media reports, to distinguish ourselves from the other.
Re: Private message to Alice and Remus
Date: 2015-05-19 05:27 pm (UTC)We'll see what we can hammer out, and soon. I'd want our non-magical leaders in on that sort of decision regardless.

Clifford Langworth (Exeter)
Manish Gupta (Lincoln)
Johannes Smith (Harlow)
...as well as any other camp contacts you've encountered who'd suit, and bring them here so we might start hammering out some sort of notion of what on earth we are to do next. I want them in on it from the beginning. (And please do look up Petunia in Chipstead while you're there -- and see if you can't get Dudley out there to visit.)
Wayne, love, your job is to make sure the free zones each send along a representative, and bring Birdwhistle along too. Tim, you can pass along to Davidson I expect him to either sit in on these initial sessions in person, or send Turner. His choice.

Date: 2015-05-19 04:35 pm (UTC)We'll be careful. Lee's also given us a list of the camps still in the middle of uprising, and we'll avoid the hottest spots until we've learned they've cooled down a bit.

Date: 2015-05-19 04:47 pm (UTC)Keep up the good work, gentlemen.
There will be opportunities aplenty for inventing and explosions in the near future, I'm sure, and roughly this time next year, I plan on having a run on all the fireworks you can possibly manage to manufacture, but for now, it's going to be a tonne of legwork, reports, and meetings, I'm afraid.
So thank you for helping with that. And you might bring the Professor along if he'd be willing.

Date: 2015-05-19 03:57 pm (UTC)There's just been--so much to do. I was trying to help Mr Slughorn (or will he be Professor again?) but he didn't exactly believe me when I told him I'm a Journeywoman Potioneer and he had me chopping roots and so on. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying maybe this afternoon I can go and, and sort through his things. Mr Snape's, I mean. Severus's.
Someone ought to do it, anyway. Might as well be me.

Well.
I agree, it's important to sort out, and soon. Besides the practical side of things, you'll need the weight of authority behind you to pull this massive undertaking off successfully, and deserve to head it up and be recognised for it. I'll push as hard as I can on my end, but your collective materials and notes of research will help considerably.

Date: 2015-05-19 06:27 am (UTC)The last few days have been quite a blow.
As is rather painfully evident, I tend to throw myself into work rather than spend too much time thinking very hard about what's happened.
If you need work, there is plenty of it, and I am more than willing to give you some once you're feeling better.
I'll be by to visit tomorrow. I am sorry I haven't been able to sooner.

We'll see what information we can gain about the Vale. And we may have some paperwork for you to sort through if you've a mind.
Re: Private Message to Luna
Date: 2015-05-19 03:57 pm (UTC)Please tell Colin that he was turned away only because I was sleeping, not because I didn't wish to see him. In fact, I would very much like a visit from him as well. I mean...it looks rather dreadful, but I'm not trying to avoid people. Especially Colin.
I hope that Remus will warn him, though, so it won't be a terrible shock for him.
I would be happy to do any parchment work you think might help. Luckily the bite missed my eye, and the swelling has gone down enough that I can see out of both.
Re: Private Message to Luna
Date: 2015-05-19 05:16 pm (UTC)And Bill has a stack of personnel records as tall as I am to sort through -- I might give you copies of a few of the unknowns or recently sacked to look through to see if you can notice anything that might indicate their usefulness. Bill can sit with you later and go over some of the coded language, but you're rather good at reading between the lines as it is.
Re: Private Message to Luna
