We got a note today from Neville.

He wants to know what he should do for YPL this summer, and oh, Sirius...

He wants to join us when he leaves school. He has no idea what we do, and he knows how dangerous it would be, but he wants to help. And he wants to learn the sorts of things that'd make him useful, so he's thinking of applying to an Auror for his YPL letter. And he's so worried, because he'll have to pretend that he's doing it for Him, but he wanted us to know that he'd really be doing it for us.

I couldn't be prouder of him.

He's his father's son.

I don't want to tell Minerva just yet, or Poppy, because I can only imagine what they'd say.

But I had to tell someone. And I know you'd understand.

I do understand, Allie. It's the same sort of thing I tried to tell you about Terry. I think they should be given the option to know about the Order. They should know that they have allies at the school. Terry needs to know he can run to Poppy or Minerva and they'll shield him best they can.

We had the option of growing up innocent. They haven't that luxury. They're already at war.

I know you're afraid of the risk but we met up again last night. My friend from my previous visits seems to think it's worth helping me, since I don't have our map another way to lookout. Luckily, Raz hasn't patrolled the last couple times - I think I've worked out his timetable - and my friend is willing to serve as a scout. Anyway, the point is, I think Terry and Neville and Hemione are better friends than we knew. Also Arthur and Molly's boys - not the Head Berk, but the younger ones. The twins in particular. Terry hasn't said much but it's clear he idolises the twins.

For whatever reason, your children have found each other. Don't you think we ought to trust them with the truth?

But unlike Molly's children, or even Terry or Hermione, my boy is under automatic suspicion. Everyone knows his parents are blood traitors.

I fear that if we ever become too much of a threat, they might use him and our Evelyn against us. It's only because we've kept so quiet that he's still safe.

Of all the students in the entirety of Hogwarts, he is the most likely to be taken in for questioning about how much he knows.

Yes, he has a Portkey. And yes, he would rather die than tell anyone even that we've been writing letters. I'm sure of it. But there's a part of me that deeply fears that by sharing more information with him, we'll put his life on the line. That somehow, someone will find out that he knows more than he should, and that gives me nightmares. He carries so many burdens already, and besides, I don't trust that he will be left unnoticed.

Frank and I very nearly pulled both Neville and Evelyn out of school this past term, and that's something I've been giving thought to lately as well. If he just quietly disappeared, and came here with us, I'd like to think it would be good for him. That we could keep him safer at Moddey Dhoo than he would be at Hogwarts. Dumbledore made this the safest place in England for a reason.
